That was one of the best histories of poetry in English I've ever read. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if you'd written about each era in period prose.
Ha! Good idea! I'm not sure my editors would have considered this a bold move so much as they'd have seen it as a bit of professorial derangement, though...

And I like the century "skips" in the piece--really makes it more readable. Gaps in time are always enlightening....
Glad you liked it! And I agree about gaps in time. Historical perspective is one of the best ways of understanding our own moment, I think.
